Back again, everything new

Wow it has been already one year since I published my last blog entry. How time passes... Not that I have nothing to write, in contrary there are a lot of new exciting things I have done and learned in the past 1 and a half year since I've started my new job. Hopefully I find time again to write more again cause I really want to share whatever I can.

You may also noticed that the appearance of my page changed. As developer I like code, so I try to follow the dogma everything as code wich made me move away from Wordpress and use a static website generator instead. This allows me to have my page as code and - as blog about dev stuff anyway - thus I can use Markdown to write my stuff. This also allows me to host the page on Gitlab pages. There are still some things to do as there is currently no possibility to comment on my page.

Some recurring users may have noticed that the page has been down for some time in February. This also cause I transferred my domain from my former registrar Network Solutions to Domain.com. This after I got pissed off about the really bad support. I have decided to use Wildcard certificates from Letsencrypt, which requires a particular TXT entry on the nameserver. However my changes were never propagated and Network Solutions didn’t even offer support via chat. Thus I had to call from Switzerland to US to ask them for help but there was no solution after over than 1 week. This I made the switch - well it took almost 7 days - to Domain.com. Their support is great and after changing the DNS entries accordingly the quickly helped me to fix the problem with the missing propagation.
